Revised Shut Down Procedure

MEMO: Restaurant Master NX Customers

Subject: Flashing progress bar during credit card processing

 

We have received several reports of difficulties processing the first credit card (CC) transaction of the day. The symptoms are a flashing progress bar and system lockup. In most cases, the Restaurant Master program returns an error box identifying which station is causing the error. Until now, we have suggested closing down the Restaurant Master program on the named station and immediately restarting the application. In some instances, this error does not point to the troubled station and all of the stations require an exit and restart of Restaurant Master.

 

We have the following procedure that will resolve this issue:

 

Note: Perform this on ALL stations except the RMNXSERVER before running Close the Day

 

1. At the login screen enter the code required to exit to the RMNX Main Menu

2. Select the “Quit RMNX” button on the bottom right hand corner of the screen.

3. Enter the code required to exit RMNX.

4. RMNX has now been shut down and the station is showing the Windows Desktop.

5. Click the Start button located in the lower left corner of the screen and select Shut Down to complete the process.

6. The station will now shut down. When completed a message will show on the screen “It is now safe to turn off your computer”. Power down the system.

 

Procedure for Friday nights only before running Close the Day:

 

1. At the login screen enter the code required to exit to the RMNX Main Menu.

2. Select the “Quit RMNX” button on the bottom right hand corner of the screen.

3. Enter the code required to exit RMNX.

4. RMNX has now been shut down and the station is showing the Windows Desktop.

5. Leave all stations running to allow system maintenance to run.

 

Procedure for Saturday morning:

 

1. Restart the RMNXSERVER.

2. Once the RMNXSERVER is up and Restaurant Master is running restart all other stations.
